This procedure applies to Network Rail Managed Stations except:

  • St Pancras (Midland Road) Station, where this is covered by the St Pancras International Station arrangements.
  • Stations where the Train Operators lead with the development of the plans as the Service Provider to Network Rail Infrastructure Limited. Any alternative arrangements will be documented via Safety Validation or approved Statement of Arrangements.
  • Birmingham New Street where the train dispatch activity is carried out by Network Rail and there is no requirement to monitor a third party.
  • The dispatch of trains from all platforms, by any party at a managed station including the associated platform train interface.
  • Dispatch of trains from all platforms by any party at a managed station and the platform train interface.

PURPOSE

This procedure:

a) maintains safety on platforms by providing assurance that train operators are compliant with their documented processes and controls for the dispatch of trains;

b) sets out responsibilities for the Platform Train Interface.
