Machine vision/industrial image processing - Acceptance test of classifying machine vision systems

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 October 2017
Status: active
Page Count: 27
ICS Code (IT applications in industry): 35.240.50
scope:

The usual legal provisions apply first of all to the acceptance of a classificatory machine vision (industrial image processing, MV system) system (see e.g. § 640 BGB). Acceptance is simultaneously a "business decision of the purchaser that a (partial) result [of the contractor] corresponds to agreements and expectations and thus can and must serve as a basis for subsequent processes" (according to DIN 69901-5).

In acceptance of a MV system a variety of performance indicators must be checked which are not directly related to the measurement and classificatory performance of the system. This includes, for example, the latency of the system or insensitivity to contamination. Some other influencing factors are given in VDI/VDE/VDMA 2632 Part 2.

The present standard suggests procedures for assessing classificatory performance during the acceptance process for MV systems. It is thus addressed to both users and suppliers of MV systems.

In addition, the user may have his own internal acceptance procedures for the entire inspection process which may take additional criteria into consideration (such as the characteristics of the production process). Even though the present standard can provide information applicable to acceptances of this kind, such acceptances are not the concern of this standard.
