Purpose:

.In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5106.01, this issuance establishes policy and assigns responsibilities for the DoD Hotline Program. The DoD Hotline provides a confidential, reliable means for individuals to report fraud, waste and abuse, violations of law, rule or regulation, mismanagement, and classified information leaks involving the DoD. The detection and prevention of threats and danger to the public health and safety of the DoD and the United States are essential elements of the DoD Hotline mission.

APPLICABILITY.

This issuance applies to OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense (OIG DoD), the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the DoD (referred to collectively in this issuance as the "DoD Components").
