Organization: | NR |
Publication Date: | 2 December 2017 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 63 |
scope:
This document applies to the design, dimensioning and assessment of the a.c. electric traction power energy subsystem.
This standard lays down the requirements for the following aspects of the electric traction energy subsystem:
a) design;
b) dimensioning;
c) assessment;
d) the tools, including software, used in the design, dimensioning and assessment.
It applies to the introduction of all new elements that form part of the electric traction energy subsystem from scheme conception through to acceptance into service or, where applicable, to decommissioning and disposal.
The document applies to persons or entities responsible for:
a) undertaking the role of the system designer;
b) specifying the requirements for train service enhancements;
c) maintaining or specifying enhancements to the electric traction energy subsystem;
d) maintaining or specifying the route business plan;
e) undertaking the role of design verification.
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to:
• describe the design principles for a.c. electric traction power systems that would lead to compliance with the legislative requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1301/2014 of 18 November 2014 on the technical specifications for interoperability relating to the 'energy' subsystem of the rail system in the Union;
• allow equipment to be specified so as to prevent danger (as required by the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989);
• provide a standardised approach for the design, dimensioning and assessment of a.c. traction power systems and the provision of economically efficient system designs.
