This module provides safety, operating and train working requirements that apply specifically to the 3rd rail d.c. electrified underground railway in the Liverpool area.

Further requirements are contained in the Rule Book Module DC (GE/RT8000/DC).

Purpose

This module provides requirements to enable personnel to deal with train or railway equipment failures or undertake planned engineering work on the underground railway in the Liverpool area without risk of danger from the conductor rail or contact with moving trains.

This module updates previously published instructions for 3rd rail d.c. electrified lines in the Liverpool area to:

• incorporate previously authorised changes that were published separately as Letters of Instruction and
• present them in an approved format that clarifies where variation may be permitted.
