Organization: NR
Publication Date: 2 December 2017
Status: active
Page Count: 11
scope:

The scope of the technical specification is for all new and proposed signalling simulation equipment but does not mandate the requirements on existing simulation

The scope is primarily for VDU based signalling control systems (VSCS) although where required the content can be used for other simulation for NX panels and lever frame simulators.

It does not cover other operational systems used by the signaller such as communications and traffic management. There will be an interface requirement between the signalling and communications simulators.

This technical specification details the mandatory functionality required of signalling simulation systems. The particular combinations will depend on the specific uses of each system and the training requirements for the location.

Purpose

This technical specification states the specific requirements for signalling control system simulation to test the operability of the system, to deliver training and to manage ongoing competence. The document provides a framework that matches requirements to the levels of simulation detailed in NR/L2/OPS/254. The purpose of the specification is to provide consistent minimum functionality of equipment for the initial and ongoing professional development of signallers.
