The present document provides speech transmission performance requirements for narrowband VoIP terminals ; it addresses all types of IP based terminals, including wireless and softphones.

The intention of the present document is to specify equipment requirements which enable manufacturers and service providers to enable good quality end-to-end speech performance.

In the present document objective measurement methodologies and requirements for handset and headset terminals are given. Hands-free terminals are outside the scope of the present document.

In addition to basic testing procedures, the present document describes advanced testing procedures taking into account further quality parameters as perceived by the user.

It is the intention of the present document to describe terminal performance parameters in such way that the remaining variation of parameters can be assessed purely by the E-model.
