Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide relevant information on modeling and simulation capabilities to architects and designers of WDM LAN standards and systems. The document is intended to be utilized in conjunction with existing SAE standards documents, AIR-6004 "Optical Networking Glossary Terminology" [1] and AIR-6005 "General Requirements for Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM) Backbone Networks" [2].
