scope:

Purpose:

In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive 5124.02, this issuance:

• Establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures governing the administration of the HzP Program in accordance with Sections 351 and 374 of Title 37, United States Code (U.S.C.).

• Implements transition of the special and incentive pay authorities in Sections 301, 304, 305b, and 310 of Title 37, U.S.C., to the HzP and skill incentive pay authorities in Section 351 of Title 37, U.S.C.

• Identifies eligibility criteria and other requirements for the payment of HzP to Service members performing duty during a hostile fire event or in a designated imminent danger area or for performing duty that is considered inherently dangerous and risks physical injury under competent orders.

APPLICABILITY.

This issuance applies to OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the DoD.
