Asphalt core boards used in roofing
|Publication Date:||1 January 2018|
This Standard covers asphalt core boards intended for use as a substrate to receive an asphalt-based, low-slope roofing membrane (built-up roofing or modified-bitumen). In such systems, the roofing membrane can be adhered with hot asphalt or cold-applied adhesive; it can be heat-welded to asphalt core board; or it can be mechanically attached through asphalt core board to the structural deck.
This Standard applies to fully supported asphalt core boards installed horizontally and vertically
This Standard does not specify requirements for the use of asphalt core boards in protecting a substrate. 1.2.2 This Standard does not address asphalt-based protection boards used in waterproofing; for information on these products, refer to ASTM D6506.
In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard.
