Purpose. This standard specifies dimensions, test methods and requirements for sealed and non-sealed heat shrinkable tubing. There is no international or national equivalent to this standard.

Applicability. The shrink tube is intended to be used as protection for splice connections, ring terminals or wherever a protected cover is needed in all passenger car and light duty truck wire harnesses.

Remarks. Shrink tube is also used to seal, unsealed joints for example splices, crimp areas.

Temperature Classes. Eight (8) temperature class ratings (3000 h) have been defined in Table 1 to respond to the various temperatures encountered on vehicles.
