This Tutorial Text is intended for practitioners in the fields of optical engineering and optomechanical design. It provides a comprehensive examination of the different ways in which lenses typically are mounted in optical instruments, of the advantages and disadvantages of various mounting arrangements, and of the analytical tools that can be used to evaluate and compare different designs.
