In diesem Dokument werden die Grundregeln zur Gestaltung von mit Beschichtungssystemen zu versehenden Stahlbauten festgelegt, um vorzeitige Korrosion und Schäden der Beschichtung oder des Bauwerks zu vermeiden. In der Norm sind Beispiele für geeignetes und ungeeignetes Gestalten gegeben, und es wird gezeigt, wie Schwierigkeiten beim Auftragen, beim Überwachen und beim Instandsetzen von Beschichtungssystemen vermieden werden können. Gestaltungsregeln, welche die Handhabung und den Transport von Stahlbauten erleichtern, sind ebenfalls enthalten.
