VDI 4089

Requirements of wet cleaning machines for the removal of oil spills from road surfaces

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 April 2018
Status: active
Page Count: 10
ICS Code (Special purpose vehicles): 43.160
scope:

This standard is aimed at operators, users and manufacturers of wet cleaning machines, at the relevant testing organisations and the owners of road surfaces. The standard provides test and evaluation criteria for the assessment of the fundamental suitability of wet cleaning machines for the cleaning of road surfaces after oil spills under defined framework conditions. It aims to provide clarity and certainty of action when evaluating the outcome of cleaning in practice after concrete damaging events with potentially unknown framework conditions in relation to the stated objectives, through

• the specification of technical requirements, and

• the definition of parameters and framework conditions for machine tests.

It is not the object of this standard to specify a cleaning method (e.g. oil binder, mechanical wet cleaning) for a given application or to make any specifications for the conduct of cleaning road surfaces in a given application. Likewise, no evaluation is carried out on the cost-effectiveness of individual methods.

The contents of this standard are to be considered within the scope of suitability assessment procedures for wet cleaning machines.
