Publication Date: 1 January 1977
Status: active
Page Count: 25
scope:

This Standard covers portable fuel tanks with a rated capacity of not more than 30 L (7 Canadian gallons), designed to be connected to gasoline-fuelled engines aboard boats by flexible fuel lines which may be disconnected for refilling and portability.

This Standard applies to fuel tank and fuel line assemblies and components to the point of connection at the engine, together or separately .

This Standard applies to tanks made of metal or plastic intended for storage and transportation of petroleum fuels having a tag closed cup flash point below 4OoC (1000F).

This Standard does not cover portable fuel tanks pressurized by means other than fuel vapour pressure; nor does it cover containers intended for storing and dispensing fuel within the scope of: (a) CSA Standard B144, Portable Plastic Containers for Petroleum Fuels; (b) CSA Standard B252, Portable Metal Containers for Gasoline and Other Petroleum Fuels.

Portable fuel tanks which comply with this Standard shall not be acceptable if, when examined and tested, they are found to have additional features which reduce the safety standard contemplated.

Note: Products in substantial accord with this Standard but which exhibit minor differences from it may be deemed to meet the Standard providing it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the authority having jurisdiction, the intended user of the product, or the certification agency acting on their behalf, that these differences will not impair the suitability of the product for its intended purpose.
