Introduction

This Track Work Instruction covers how to referrule baseplates and chairs.

Ferrules are provided to take up any irregularities in chair/baseplate castings and to prevent metal to metal contact between chairscrews and castings.

There are two types of ferrule:

Ordinary ferrules as illustrated opposite.

'Top hat' ferrules for CS1B chairs or PAN9 baseplates

This instruction deals with the ordinary ferrule.
