Introduction

This Track Work Instruction covers the replacement of a single broken stud bolt (or stock rail bolt).

If the S&C unit is fitted with MGL pins, a repair may be made using a stud bolt or "Muckle" bolt, pending the permanent repair with an MGL pin.

If the unit is fitted with bolts, then the repair must be made using an appropriate bolt or "Muckle" bolt. MGL pins must not be installed on an individual basis; you should fit the entire assembly.

"Muckle" pins are a temporary repair; permanent replacement must be carried out within 4 weeks.
