Introduction

This Track Work Instruction covers how to replace a conventional check rail in BH and 113A FB S&C. Guidance on RT60/NR60 S&C is given at the end of this TWI.

Although train wheels do not run on the checkrail, the checkrail is a vital part of a layout that stops the wheel flange from going the wrong side of the crossing nose.

N.B. If a train runs over a layout that has a missing checkrail, it will derail! See also the separate instructions:
