Introduction

This Track Work Instruction gives an appreciation of the arrangements that need to be made when power operated points, switch diamonds or swing nose crossings have to be operated by hand, i.e. during, or as a result of equipment failure or disconnection.

The rules that must be followed are set out in Module T5 of the Rule Book.

Additional staff may need to be appointed depending on whether the failure or disconnection is classified as simple or complex.
