This Recommendation relates to non-wirewound potentiometers Type 2 with or without switch, with a nominal resistance value up to and including 2.2 MΩ for use in equipment for telecommunication and in electronic devices employing similar techniques. It does not apply to potentiometers designed specifically for use only as pre-set potentiometers or to rim controlled (button) potentiometers. Object: to establish uniform requirements for judging the electrical, mechanical, and climatic properties of non-wirewound potentiometers, to describe tests methods and to give recommendations for standard dimensions and for classification into categories according to their ability to withstand extremes of temperature, humidity, pressure or mechanical stress.
