scope:

Specifies the characteristics of fusion fittings made from polyethylene (PE) as well as of mechanical fittings made from various materials intended for piping systems in the field of gaseous fuels supply. It also specifies the test parameters for the testmethods referred to in this standard. In conjunction with one of the Part 1, 2 and 4 to 7 of EN 1555 it is applicableto pE fittings and to joints with components of pE and non-plastics materials intended to be used under the following conditions: a) maximum operating pressure, PMS, up to and including 10 bar; b) an operating temperature of 20°C as a reference temperature. This standard is applicable to fittings of the following types: - electrofusion socket fittings; - electrofuion saddle fittings - spigot end fittings for: - socket fusion heated tools; - butt fusion using heated tools; - electrofusion socket fusion. - socket fusion fittings (heated tool fusion); - saddle fusion fittings ((heated tool fusion); - mechanical fittings. The fittings can be in the form of couplers, equal tees,reducers, elbows or caps.
