Provides Sectional Specifications for primary coated optical fibres and deals with only one class of optical fibre, i.e. "Class B" Single-mode fibres. Presently, three categories of fibres fall under this class: Standard Step-Index (SI) fibres, Dispersion Shifted (DS) fibres, Dispersion-Flattened (DF) fibres. Fibres dealt with in this document are intended to be used primarily in public or private Telecommunication networks: however, they can also be considered for other types of applications. Where reference is made under "Requirements" to "no change in attenuation" then this shall be taken as being ≤ 0,05 dB.
