Metallic and non metallic coatings - Measurement of thickness - Beta backscatter method

inactive
Organization: NEN
Publication Date: 1 December 1994
Status: inactive
Page Count: 4
ICS Code (Metallic coatings): 25.220.40
scope:

This non-destructive method applies to both metallic and non-metallic coatings on both metallic and non-metallic substrates. To employ this method, the atomic numbers or equivalent atomic numbers of the coating and the substrate must differ by an appropriate amount. The beta backscatter instruments used employ a number of different radioactive sources that can present a hazard to health, if incorrectly handled.
