scope:
This section permits the designers and operators of industrial process plants to determine for a defined location the noise generated by hydrodynamic flow through control valves. The sound power emitted into the pipe, as well as the airborne noise emitted by the valve and piping system, can be predicted by means of coefficients that define specific characteristics and a unified calculation method. At present, a common requirement by valve users is the knowledge of the sound pressure level outside the pipe, typically 1 m downstream of the valve and 1 m from the pipe wall. This section offers a method to establish this value. This section also provides for calculating the internal sound power level.
