This international standard specifies a test method for determining the resistance of the tufted portion of manual toothbrushes to deflection, together with related information concerning definitions and information about the test machine. The resistance to deflection does not provide correlation with clinical or consumer perceptions. In addition, this test method may not be appropriate for all toothbrushes, e.g. those whose designs do not allow for use in this apparatus.
