This standard gives guidance on writing the technical specification for the procurement of condenser plants in the electrical power supply industry. This includes: Water Cooled Surface (and Direct Contact) Condenser acting as a steam sink for main or ayxiliary turbine in power generating plants. Condenser Auxiliary Equipment. The equipment covered by this guide is related to its function rather than design type. Therefore the condenser plant requirements are stated in performance terms rather than being specified by a detailed description of the equipment to be supplied. This standard is applicable to the actions of both purchasers and suppliers and indicates to potential purchasers how requirements should be stated so that: a) the condenser type and capcity interfaces correctly with other elements of the power cycle such as the turbine, cooling water system, regenerating feed heating system, district heaters and steam generating plant; b) predicted performance is achieved; c) ancillary equipment is properly sized; d) reliability, availability and safety requirements are achieved; e) proper consideration is given is the evaluation process and the quality measures to be applied.
