This standard specifies a method to determine the sum of the contents of ammonical nitrogen and organically bound nitrogen. It applies to sludge, such as sewage sludge, sediments and suspended matter in waste water and surface water. Aromatic and heterocyclic nitrogen compounds are not fully determined. Inorganic nitrate and nitrite as well as some metals may interfere with the determination.
