This standard describes a method to determine the extinction coefficient of oils and fats in the ultraviolet spectro. It applies to the examination of vegetables and animal oils and fats and allows for the possibility to demonstrate conjugated double bonds. Conjugated bonds may occur naturally or are the result of the presence of secondary waste products as a result of anto-oxidation and/or industrial processes.
