scope:

Specifies essential requirements for non-invasive, active and non-active ophthalmic instruments. This standard includes low vision aids and tonometers, but excludes other instruments which are used in contact with the globe of the eye. This standard takes precedence over the corresponding requirements of the other general standards quoted in clause 2, if differences exist. In addition to the requirements of this Standard, the supplementary or modified requirements specified in the relevant product-related standards will apply. They are listed in normative Annex B. This standard does not apply to operation microscopes, endoscopes and devices intended for laser investigation or treatment of the eye.
