This International Standard contains a code for the designation of tool holders for internal turning (boring bars) operations with cylindrical shank and standardized dimension f (see also ISO 5609), for indexable inserts so that orders and specifications for such tools can be simplified. The designation of turning and copying tool holders and of cartridges for indexable inserts with rectangular shank is standardized in ISO 5608.
