Applicable to factory-assembled appliances whatever their operating principle is but not to low-temperature compartments (one-, two- and three-star compartments (covered by ISO/R 825) or freezer compartments incorporated in refrigerators (subject of a future International Standard). The safety requirements applicable to the electrical equipment of household refrigerating appliances are covered by IEC 335-2-24.
