scope:
This International Standard specifies requirements for the design, construction, safety, performance and acceptance testing of windlasses and anchor capstans. This International Standard is applicable to windlasses and anchor capstans of sea-going vessels which have electric, hydraulic, steam or external drive. For combined windlasses/mooring winches, ISO 3730 is to be used in addition to this International Standard.
