This standard deals with the concept of inherent filtration of X-ray assemblies, its definitions, methods of indication and its determination, and the statement of inherent filtration measured according to this standard. These methods are intended for the detemination and statement of the value of inherent filtration for an X-ray tube assembly in order to permit the establishment of the minimum total filtration in an X-ray equipment required for purposes of protection of patients against low-energy ionizing radiation having no clinical value (diagnostic or therapeutic). The method given is not intended to be applied for measuring inherent filtration of required total filtration in an actual X-ray installation.
