scope:

This standard contains definitions, requirements, calculation values for the compressive strength of brickwork, as well as rules for the inspection of calcium silicate bricks and blocks. The appendices to this standard contain in formation concerning: - a method to obtain a quick impression of the compressive strength to expect of calcium silicate bricks and blocks in a 'dry' condition; - directives for the application of calcium silicate bricks and blocks; - data on properties of calcium silicate bricks and blocks which no requirements are made on in the body of the standard, as well as on properties of brickwork made of such bricks and blocks. The standard applies to calcium silicate bricks and blocks principally intended for inner and outer walls, basements, foundations, base courses, dampcourses, chimneys and flues.
