scope:

Defines the test procedure to be used to determine the performance of bar code printing equipment. It also applies to equipment for the printing of other optically readable symbologies such as dot and matrix codes. It considers bar code printing systems as integrated units, from the receipt from a host computer or other device, or direct input, of data and other information to the output of finished bar code symbols. It does not deal with the software for the design or layout of the information on the printed material, neither does it cover the software for the generation of the bar code image unless this is resident within the printer system. It also defines in an annex electrical and laser safety requirements and requirements for protection from electromagnetic interference caused or suffered by the equipment.
