This part of ISO 4661 specifies methods of preparing test pieces from vulcanized rubber for use in physical tests on rubber specified in other International Standards. This part of ISO 4661 includes a number of factors of importance in the preparation of test pieces for physical testing, in order to ensure the best use of the relevant ISO methods of test. The procedure for adjusting the thickness of the test piece, if necessary, is described. If it is not feasible to obtain suitable test pieces from the finished product, or if required for determining the properties of a rubber compound, test pieces may be prepared from specially moulded sheets.
