This International Standard specifies the requirements for design, construction, safety, performance and acceptance testing of winches for lifeboats, used for manual, gravity or stored mechanical power launching, recovery and storage of lifeboats. This International Standard does not include requirements for the prime mover (if any) used to operate the winch, which may have electric, hydraulic or pneumatic drive.
