This recommendation is intended to give guidance to operational and maintenance personnel as to the tests required to check the condition of sulphur hexafluoride gas in electrical equipment and to enable a unified method of analysis to be used whenever possible. It should be understood that this recommendation can only give general guidance and that for specific items of equipment the maximum acceptable levels of impurity in the sulphur hexafluoride and the period between checking should be agreed between the manufacturer of the electrical equipment and the user. This guide applies to a gas which originally satisfied the specifications for new SF6.
