This standard is applicable to dry reed make contact units as used in relays within the scope of the IEC. It excludes reed contact units built with remanent magnetic materials and permanent magnets inside the envelope. It is applicable to reed contact units which are in a condition equivalent to that of a reed contact unit immediately after completion of manufacture. The object of this standard is to state, for dry reed make contact units: - definitions of terms used; - preferred rated values; - preferred test conditions; - preferred test methods and basic requirements; - endurance tests. It covers basic requirements. Supplementary requirements may be necessitated by specific designs or applications. These requirements will be given in detail specifications where they are relevant.
