NEN 7920 establishes specifications for pulsefishing components used gear used for catching flatfish by means of electric pulses. The specifications include guidelines for installation, input and output of pulse gear and pulse-related machinery. The specifications also include requirements for the safety of fishermen and data-registration exchange of the used equipment. The ability of practical enforcement by concerned control and enforcement authorities is ensured by making it not possible to overrule the specifications. All other fishing methods (including pulse fishing on other species) are excluded from this document. The document is only applicable to all cutters using pulsefisheries technology to catch flatfish.
