This proposal applies to heat pumps with electrically driven compressors, used for space heating, for space heating and cooling, or for heating sanitary water. It specifies minimum requirements which ensure that a heat pump is fitted for the use designated by the heat pump manufacturer. Except where otherwise stated, tests are made as described in the relevant parts of EN 255. This proposal also provides recommendations for the way the characteristics of heat pumps shall be specified by the manufacturer in order to assist users and manufacturers in the understanding and comparison of various types of heat pumps.
