Specifies a procedure which can be used to determine the genotoxicity of water and waste water using the umu-test. The assay is based on the detection of genotoxicity in a test sample which increases the expression of the SOS-repair system associated with the umuC-gene, compared to control. The procedure can be used to determine genotoxicity of water and waste water.
