NEN-ISO 6614

Petroleum products - Determination of water separability of petroleum oils and synthetic fluids

active, Most Current
Organization: NEN
Publication Date: 1 March 1995
Status: active
Page Count: 10
ICS Code (Petroleum products in general): 75.080
scope:

Specifies a method for measuring the ability to separate from water. Recommended test temperature are 54° and 82° oil, the later being used when the viscosity at 40°C is more than 90 cSt. This method may be unsuitable for high viscosity oils where it is apparent that there is insufficient mixing of oil and water during stirring. When testing synthetic fluids whose densities are greater than that of water, the procedure is unchanged, but it should be noted that the water will probably float on the emulsion or liquid.
