This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of size of opening of the mesh of fishing using a flat wedge gauge. This part of the European Standard concerns active gears as they are defined below in clause 3. Tests may be carried out in both the dry and wet states, but tests in the wet state are considered to be particularly appropriate in indicating the behaviour of the netting in use.
