scope:

To describe and specify the CAMAC Serial Highway System. To define the message formats and signal standards. This standard is supplementary to the standard laid down in IEC Publication 516 and should be read in conjunction with that publication. No part of this standard is intended to supersede or mdify IEC Publication 516. This standard: a) lays down mandatory requirements; b) defines recommended or preferred practics, to be followed unless there are sound reasons to the contrary; c) gives examples of permitted practics. This standard is not intended to exclude the use of compatible equipment even if it does not conform fully to this standard or is not constructed as CAMAC plug-in-units.
