scope:

This standard contains a series of lamp technical data sheets as a first stage in the preparation of a complete standard specification which will state requirements necessary to ensure interchangeability and safety together with test conditions and procedures. The first stage specifies the lamp dimensions, electrical characteristics for lamp starting and operation, together with information for ballast, ignitor and luminaire design purposes. In the requirements dealing with the lamp starting test and associated information for ballast/ignitor design there are differences dependent on whether the practice is European or American influenced. The intention is to have a common standard for these requirements also, and efforts to achieve this continue.
