This document gives guidance on writing the technical specification for low voltage (Um = 41,5 kV) cabling systems as used in the conventional areas of electric power generation plants. The guide covers a wide range of cabling activities. It may be used for all or any of these activities by selection of the appropriate parts e.g.: -provision of cable support system, - laying and fixing of cable, - completion of cable ends e.g. glanding and terminating, - testing of installed cable, - provision of accessories e.g. enclosures for the marchalling of cable cores. The guide includes the usual range of cable types used in generation plant for power. It also includes protective conductor cables by not the design of the main earthing system. Cables for distribution systems and for communication are not covered in this guide; for control instrumentation cabels guides 7.1 to 7.3 must be considered. This document is applicable to the actions of both purchasers and suppliers and indicates to potential purcharsers how requirements should be stated so that: a) the equipment type and capacity interfaces correctly with other elements of the electrical systems; b) predicted performance is achieved; c) ancillary equipment is properly sized; d) reliability, availability and safety requirements are achieved; e) proper consideration is given to the evaluation process and the quality measures to be applied.
