scope:
Specifies a routine method for the determination of the nitrate and nitrite content in cheese by flow injection analysis. The method utilises in-line dialysis, cadmium reduction and photometry and is suitable for hard, semi-hard and soft cheeses of various ages and for processed cheese. The detection limits of the method are 0,5 mg of nitrate ion per kilogram and 1.0 mg of nitrite per kilogram. The method has also shown to be suitable for whey powder and milk-based baby foods.
