This standard describes a method for the determination of the undrained shear strenth of cohesive soil. The standard applies to in situ measurements in saturated cohesive soils. Vane tests are not suitable for soil in which drainage is possible or delation occurs during the test, such as sand or in soil containing rocks or wood remains.
