scope:
This standard specifies methods to calculate or estimate ionic strength. It applies to: 1. any kind of water, of which the concentrations of the most prevalent kinds of ions are known or can be estimated; 2. drinking water, ground water and surface water, of which the conductivity is less than 100 mS/m or of which the sum of the mass concentrations of the dissolved ions (evaporation residue) is less than 1000 mg/l.
